The effectiveness of competition on the telecommunication market in Poland

Summary
Purpuse – The article discusses the subject of liberalization of the telecommunication market in Poland and its impact on prices of services in this area. The authors prove that the technological progress in the field of telecommunication in Poland has not had clear influence on price reduction.
Methodology – To study the indicated problem, statistical data were analyzed and a comparative method was applied, including phenomena occurring on the telecommunication market in Poland and other countries.
Findings – A strong fall in prices occurred only after the release of the market and the application of competition rules. In countries where the national operator has lost its privileged position more quickly, the prices of telephone services declined much earlier.
