Summary
Purpuse – Analyzing the conditions of development of tourist clusters in Poland based on existing cluster initiatives as well as highlighting favorable factors and depicting development barriers of today’s clustering.
Methodology – Literature research of the subject, statistical data and own research – questionnaire. The tabular and numerical methodology and comparative analysis were applied.
Findings – In the course of the work, literature and empirical research related to clustering was carried out as a phenomenon of innovation in the economy and its impact on Polish economic entities, scientific bodies and local governments. The above studies allowed for in-depth analysis of the subject in terms of developmental conditions of clusters, and thus the achievement of the objective of the work.
The concept of clustering has been known in the world for many years.
In Poland, the concept of the cluster is still quite new, although mention of the subject appeared at the end of the ‘90s last century. The aim of the work was to analyze the conditions of development the tourist clusters in Poland on the basis of existing cluster initiatives and to indicate favorable factors and the development barriers of today’s clustering. In the course of the work, literature and empirical research related to clustering was carried out as a phenomenon of innovation in the economy and its impact on Polish economic entities, scientific bodies and local governments. The above studies have allowed for in-depth analysis of the subject in terms of the developmental conditions of the clusters, and thus fulfillment of the objective of the work. This article is original due to the application of a relatively new approach to the tourism sector, in which this approach was not widely used.
