Summary
The date of Polish accession to the Economic and Monetary Union has not yet been established, which causing that the Polish accession to the eurozone is a quite distant project, even “futuristic”. The choice of the appropriate term of Polish accession to the euro zone is accompanied by numerous disputes concerning the actual readiness of the Polish economy to participate in the system of the single currency euro. Today, the foundation of this dispute remains the financial crisis of eurozone. The European Union is currently experiencing one of the most important challenges in its entire history. However, current remains the issue of fulfillment by Poland criteria of nominal, real and legal convergence, which indicate the level of fulfillment of conditions set by the concept of an optimum currency area and the possibility of a relatively safe functioning in the framework of this area.
