Summary
Seaports play a very important role in the development of cities, regions and affect the welfare of the residents. They provide jobs, and drive the economy. The article presents the involvement of a private investor in the Polish maritime economy and analyses the progress and development of this project, revealing the barriers that were encountered. The investment DCT has proven to be a success, and today the DCT is the largest Baltic container terminal, which plays the role of hub and the “Baltic Gateway”. DCT supports the largest ships in the world, which transport goods imported from the Far East and Export loads from Polish to Asia.
